Today is the day the Nanowrimo forum and stuff is back up and running after their reset – I purposefully haven’t been using it until today because I didn’t want to have to save threads and stuff.
I’m still new to the interface of the site so may take a little while to become associated with it and use it to full effectiveness.
Basically I am still going to write everything on here – I may copy and paste stuff on there but this is my base of operation purelly becuase I know blogs intermately and feel I have more control over retaining copies of any information I place here!
I’m looking for writing buddies – I’m 5affy and yes that is with a 5 not an S (its more cyberpunk!).
Good luck everyone!
NaNoWrimo is in November but I am going to be doing more planning and organising of story lines etc… in October. I’m going to up the amount of time I am spending on the project a day to 2 hours instead of one as well!
Hope to see all you Nanoers on the Forum and Twitter and maybe even commenting here 🙂

I have decided to aim for 2000 words a day. The goal of NaNoWriMo is 50, 000 words in a month which breaks down too 1667 words a day. But if I do 2000 a day instead then I leave myself some scope for when things go wrong ie family visiting and stuff like that!
But it also means I should get to the word count before the end of the month leaving room to either finish the story which knowing me will no doubt be longer than the 50, 000 and or give time for some editoring and compiling.
I think though the whole month shall be taken up with the story!

Ok so I need the Punk in Pink to be in existence centeries apart without time travel – the options?
1) Vampire
2) Alien or old technologically advanced race that has cryo-suspension or something similar
3) Similar to 2) but is a concousness that downloads or uploads itself into new bodies
4) A demon
5) An Elf or Feary or something of that ilk
6) A witch that knows how to stay young
7) An accident with the fabled fountain of youth
8) Alien abduction
9) Portal from an ulternate world that is out of sync chronologically with this one – though this feels like time travel to me
10) Past lives or shared concousness or a mix of both
I’m sure there are many more but what I have decided to go with is the concept of there being more than one type of ‘Human’ on the planet. The Punk is a chimera of a long lived race who are the origin of elfish folklore and a human.
This means she looks more human than the other Homonids but ages slowely, she may or may not be fertile – I’m airing on the side of infertile due to a chromasome descrepancy. Chimeras do exist such as the Tigron (tiger and Lion), the zeedonk (zebra and donkey) and of corse the good old mule/ass (horse and donkey depending who was mum and who was dad).
I need to do some calculations for the aging processes and decide how the chimera came about – ie do I involve aliens or an Atlantian type cizalization or just some sort of ‘natural’ occurance?
Again feedback would be appreciated.
And thanks to EelKat, Dad and Alaric who have given me the most feedback and help with this getting steadily more complicated plot!

I have been doing some research into this local legend of the Bisley boy and have found that the age of the princess Elizabeth ranges from 8 to 12 and then there is some confussion as to how soon after she died the King decided to visit her.
Bram Stoker (as in Dracular) wrote this legend up in his Famous Imposters book which I now want to read! Since then a body of a 9 year old girl has been found in a secret grave at the house, buried in fine silks – so that is the age of death I shall use.
I think for ease of things I shall let the King visit several years afterwards so that she is a teenager and therefore not run into more plot complecations than I already have!
Bisley is also supposed to have had a male may queen at least until the 1950’s – dressed as an Elizabethan girl – I want to check this out with the local historical societies though.
There was suprisingly little on this subject on the internet which amazed me – someone has already written a fiction novel about it which I am to get out of the liberary and read as well.
Apparently the Victorians had wanted to exhume the body and check on its gender (Queen Elizabeth’s grown up body that is!) but they couldn’t get permission – you need royal permission to exhume bodies in England.
I think this book is going to take a lot of research into Elizabethan England so I had best get on and do a ton of research – if anyone knows of any good texts or even fiction books set around the time I would be very happy if you could let me know about them 🙂
Thanks

Having talked to various people about The Punk in Pink being the boy who ends up as Queen Elizabeth I – I have hit upon the idea that the young boy who is turned into a princess is in fact a girl who is dressed as a boy to avoid unwanted attention and to be able to travel more freely.
This does smack of some of Shakespares stories which is an intreging prospect as I believe he met the Queen which could be roped into the story!
This of course leaves the problem of how the intervening centeries are delt with. I don’t really want to add in time travel at all to be honest.
I also have to decide how much of the story will be based in Elizabethan times and how much in other time periods – do I do the flash back thing or have a continous time line?
It is I think going to take some research!
Suggestions welcome 🙂

It was suggest a while ago now that I might want to make The Punk in Pink a transvestite or something of the ilk – initially I thought Nah no way but then I hear this poem by Angela France about a local Cotswold legend and my mind has been turning over ever since.
Apparently during the Black Death Queen Elizabeth was sort of eight years old and was evacuated to Bisley to keep her safe – but she sickened and died and those caring for her were so afeared of King Henry that they searched for another red headed child to take her place.
However, no red haired girl could be found but a boy was so they got him to be the princess!
This is why she went balled, why she started the fashion of high necked dressed and stiff corsettes to hide the fact there was a masculine body etc…
I’m not sure how this will link up entirely but some how I just know that the punk who is a woman is also going to have been this lady boy queen! So now I know there is going to be an element of the supernatural in it but what it will be I do not know.
Any suggestions would be good – though as my friend has been writing a series of books about time traveling vampires I sort of want to avoid that though it was my initial thought!
I think this puts it in a higher age bracket than I had been initially planing.

I was considering what sort of story I should go with for this years Nanowrimo – bizarly it never occured to me to write a none fiction novel though I note that is what some people are doing.
I considered children’s stories but realised the only ones I wanted to write are all sort story serials which I didn’t think really fitted with the concept of writing a novel. Next I considered bringing one of my already started stories to the challenge but felt this was a no go as I want to get back into my writing curve and as those novels are looking at me snarling as it is I thought it wouldn’t be productive plus I think I’d regret which ever one I was working on becuase there are all the others. No I decided it should be something new, and a specific challenge to get me back in the swing of things.
Then off course I felt guilty about all those half finished project – fortunatly I went and read the conditions for Nanowrimo and it says NO to the half done novels meaning… yay! I get a fresh start and don’t have to feel guilty 🙂
So then I pondered – should I write the second novel of my empowerment literature (or as I perfer to term it chick lit for Geeks). This would be The Gutarist’s Girl but I feel I need to have typed up and sorted the Dr’s Wife first (This is a 80, 000 approx story that I hope will be a novel one day however it is writen over half a doesn’t LARGE notebooks in longhand).
So do I go with the theme I wanted to do for last years Nanowrimo? The Apocolyptica? No I decided it needs a lot of research and is already constrained to a set pattern.
And then I dozed off and an image formed – and then it was a title:
A/The Punk in Pink
I haven’t decided on the A verses The as they do give a slightly different feel to what the character would be like, dominant verses shy etc…
But at the moment this is all I have – I think the protagonist will probably be female but that is still open to debate. I have no idea which age group to base it at either.
So this means that I have a title but that is it and from this I am going to try and structure an entire novel – suggestions are therefore highly sort after!
Thanks
p.s. just bung them in the comment field 🙂

Well I am a NaNoWriMarium Monster called Purple Monster by my friends.
I’m a Gurgitation Monster really but I’m a bit more reclusive than the other monsters – the Grammariun Monsters are of course more shy and well frankly militant about where those commers should and shouldn’t go!
I on the other hand don’t care about things like spelling and gramma and all the rest off it – all I care about is getting the story down on the page even if it then has to be edited 20 times.
I tend to be most active in November which is the National Novel Writing Month and I hope to basically post what I’ve written everyday. I am signed up and pledged at the NaNoWriMo website as 5affy (I have to have a human persona you see – it just makes things easier!)
This is my first year of nanowrimo and hope that my monster friends will all help me plus any random readers. Blue Monster will probably get his comments banned or something though looking at his past tendencies :/
The pledge is that I will write 50, 000 words in a month – I plan to write them all straight on here without editing so it may be cough not the best writing in the world but after November I will go through the whole editing processes on here too 🙂
Planning is allowed but already written prose isn’t – therefore I’ll be filling this blog up with planing stuff for the next few weeks – I might even do some drawing and brain storming but that sounds like effort!
Its also the tenth year of NaNoWriMo which I thought made it a good time to join 🙂
Oh and I think I should thank the Wiggly Pets for getting their human friend to set this blog up for me 🙂
